Quotes
Niles: At our wedding, while Maris was reciting her vows, which she wrote herself — vows of love from the heart — I distinctly heard snickering. I glanced behind me and there was Lilith, her fingers pressed hard against her lips, her body shaking like a paint mixer.

Silly Ryan

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Sun 26 Oct 2008 10:41 am

Had he realized that the Company always has the rule of one of us and one of them, he might have realized Jack and Noah were a distraction. Both were never in any real harm as they had backup.

Entirely too long without a blog

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Thu 6 Sep 2007 10:00 am

So planet is back. Yay. Not that I’ve had much to blog about. Let’s recount this past summer in a list:

  •  Classes ended (2 A, 2 A- and a C)
  • Went to the Cape for vaction. Lots of good fun. Read Deathly Hallows
  • Saw most of the summer blockbusters
  • Played frisbee
  • Worked from the end of July til the end of  August
  • Bought a Wii
  • Back to College

So here I sit at 10  Am in the computer lab waiting for my 10:30 class. I wish I could be more exciting. Maybe next blog.

4 years

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Tue 3 Apr 2007 6:26 pm

The last 2 times I may have recalled my staff promotion, but this is the date I really remember. (Perhaps because it can be found under my profile). It was 4 years ago this day that I registered on the Invisionfree Support forums for help with my board. Since then, quite a bit has changed. I’d like to use this post to thank the current staff for their awesomeness.

It’s official: I have no life

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Fri 30 Mar 2007 5:21 pm

So once again, I realize that yes indeed as of March 27th, I’ve been staff at IF for 3 years. In that time I have double the posts compared to another board I am very active at. I really should blog more, but I’m a boring person. Still I guess I’ll try with this one

Yay break

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Sat 18 Nov 2006 1:25 am

After going and going since September, I finally get some time off from college after this Monday. Just enough to catch my breath and work on 3 or 4 papers and essays all due in the next 2 weeks. Luckily I did get a jump on history and english. Now it’s just a matter of getting political science done. The trouble with that paper is I need some overall idea to support with evidence for 12 pages. And I’m sure once I sit down with all my materials and just start typing, it will come to me. But I prefer to have the ideas all formulated in my head when I sit down. It gives me more immediate focus and I can better articulate my points. Ah well. It will be done. And it’ll be at least a B.

I look forward to this coming week. Two of my friends are coming back. so our “group” will be back together for that time. Always good to have such a good group to enjoy spending time with. Unfortunately it’s not long enough but meh. And my Uncle is cooking for Thanksgiving, so that should be some great food and fun for certain. And then after Thanksgiving, hopefully I can take the Math Final that Monday, pass and be done with that class. I only have 6 History classes left and the final. Also have a possible small job I can do to earn a little $.

You Broke the Support Board

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Wed 15 Nov 2006 4:59 pm

All those posts finally blew a gasket. :p

Yoda: Seth break the Support Board? It’s not loading for me.
Brandon: s1 is broken
Yoda: how long til it unbreaks
Brandon:a few hours minimum

Ah the chaos that ensues afterwards should be interesting.

And of course:

NO we are not Upgrading to Zetaboards. The Server’s got a problem. Personally, I blame Seth. :p

Zeta Beta

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Tue 3 Oct 2006 7:04 pm

So as most of the IF community knows, Brandon made an announcement that ZB is in the beta stages. And the reaction to this news was mixed at best. What personally boils my blood is the negative pessimistic p*** and moaning posts made by the “older members” of this community who think they are entitled to something. Not just on Support mind you, but other big forums like IFSZ. The saying you can’t please everyone is true. Some are happy. Some are content. Others will never believe its real. Others say we should have kept them in the dark til the last minute. Because this entry is meant to be seen on planet zeta, I will refrain from the many choice obscenities I’d like to reply with. Instead, I will, as rationally as I can show how historically, nothing we do pleases everyone and these pessimistic p***ants need a good firm kick in the rear. (more…)

No Blog in a month?

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Sat 2 Sep 2006 12:07 am

Wow. August went by without a single blog from me. Of course August went by very fast. Probably because I was going and going all month. I was barely online in fact. Here’s a few highlights:

August 1st- Got my ‘95 Acura Integra. I love that car.

Worked for my dad for from July 20ish-August 28th. Made a little over 1000 I believe.

August 13th-20th Went to Cape Cod

Choked on the cost of my text books $395.00!

Spent every night possible with friends before 2 left for college.

Ordered my Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop

And now that 2 of my friends have left and the other 2 are preparing to move in at our college, I am once again unemployed and will soon have a laptop, I should have much more time to be active again. Expect a rather large blog from me soonish.

Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Fri 7 Jul 2006 11:22 am

Well I’ve seen this movie twice now. Both times for free. Yay for coupons and a friend who works at the theater. Let me start off by saying I’ve never fully watched the Christopher Reeves movies, but I loved the opening. The credits were very true to the original with John William’s Theme blasting as the audience is whisked through the galaxy. It gave me a giddy sense as I watched.
Brandon Routh was a great choice for the Man of Steel. I also enjoyed Kate Bosworth as Lois, though she just didn’t remind me much of the original Lois or even the Terri Hatcher version. Kevin Spacey stole the show though. He was very true to Gene Hackman’s Luthor but added his own dark twist on the character. He had some great moments. Parker Posey was a great sidekick for Luthor. And Marsden and the kid were great though I would have preferred seeing Marsden in X-men more than Superman.

The Visuals and effects were amazing. Just like Star Wars, the effects are so seamless that you forget they are fake. The Music, while mostly a remix of John Williams’ fantastic score, was quite good at times. Bryan Singer did a fantastic job with this movie and my one regret is he had to leave X-men for this.

The amount of imagery in this movie was great. Even after the second viewing I didn’t catch some of the things my friend Stef did on her first viewing such as Atlas. A lot of references were made about God’s, Saviors, Fathers and Sons. I think any English teacher would enjoy this and should consider using it in a class.

Lastly, the plot was quite good. I really enjoyed a lot of the nods to the original movie. And there were a lot of them. I’ve been trying to rewatch the first Superman and caught several. I encourage everyone to go and see this movie. I really want to try and see it on the IMAX.

Die Myspace. *Yodaminch stabs!

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Fri 30 Jun 2006 10:46 pm

I loathe myspace. I always have. But now I have new reason to hate it. I’ve fallen to the dark side and caved to the pressure of my friends to get one of these stupid, useless accounts. It would be better if they all used if. Certainly would be easier to look at over the garbage there. Its any webmaster’s nightmare. The horrid use of html is sickening. And those stupid fixed images are maddening. I’m ready to rate ezboard as a better service then this monstrosity. Why? User Interface for one. One reason I fell in love with Invisionfree was the interface. It’s hard to:

1) Find the Profile

2) Edit the Profile

3) Find Music or Videos

4) Find friends

Because of their terrible navigation. They have too much useless clutter which makes it hard to spot the links needed to use your account. And half of these myspace accounts look like a Support Volunteer tried skinning. Aweful. I spent 5 minutes trying to get the damn thing to accept my background image code. The idea of just sticking html anywhere annoys me to no end. I’m shocked a bunch of flashing, scrolling marquees aren’t flying around on all of these accounts. Well, it doesn’t matter much now. The deed is done, I’ve gotten it to do what I wanted so that my friends will be happy. But I certainly intend to have very limited interaction with myspace.

Graduation

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Fri 30 Jun 2006 9:04 pm

So, yesterday was graduation. After 4 years of hardships, fun times, good memories and missed moments it all ended last night. I arrived at the place for 2:30 dressed up with my robe and cap on a hanger. The arena is supposed to be airconditioned which was why they did it indoors, but alas it was not cool in there. So I sweated while we practiced lining up, sitting, getting the diploma etc. Then at 4 we had a reception for the parents. The food was ok. Not the best in the world. My friends’ parents and my mom blinded all of us with plenty of photos. Finally at 6, the actually ceremony got going. After suffering through the welcome speeches, we found out who are valedictorian was and listened to our graduation speaker, our principal who is leaving, speak. We then suffered through a few other speeches and the departments recognizing kids with honors. I had none for reasons mentioned in the past. Then after what seemed like hours (the thing was only an hour and a half) we got the diplomas. After, my parents, aunts, uncle and other family went to eat. The next day the rest of the family came over for a party. I made out pretty well cashwise so I should be able take care of these college expenses pretty well. Still will need to take out a few loans but nothing major.
This was started last saturday. Now a week from graduation, Its strange. Yesterday I registered for classes at college. All week a group of us have been meeting at the middle school to play ultimate frisbee. It’s only now really started to sink in that I won’t be seeing some of these people any longer. It’s also interesting to realize that I may be reuniting with others. Some people that I went to Catholic school with were also at orientation yesterday. College should be very interesting. My schedule isn’t exactly what I’d want as I don’t see myself doing much with 4 of the 5 classes I’m taking but requirements are requirements.

Last Meal

Blogged by Stephen as General — Stephen Thu 15 Jun 2006 5:12 pm

It’s strange to realize that at 12:03, I had officially finished my last lunch in high school. And at 2:05, I’d finished my last full day of high school. Lunch for me, has been a fantastic experience since most of the band ate together in the band room. We’ve had great discussions, games, watched movies and listened to music. And it was just great to be with my friends especially on days where we had no band and therefore had no classes together. Two of them, Jon and Zac are staying home and going with me to the same college. My friend Stef is off to Rhode Island but is still only 3 hours away. My friend Kevin on the other hand is off to Oklahoma State University. So today was the last day he stole my french fries. i told him I’d get NASA to tally the bill for the amount of fries he’s stolen from me over the past 4 years. It’s strange realizing that I may never see some of these great people again. My oldest friend is off to the navy. I know that in the back of my mind, I’ll be praying for his safety until he’s back in this state for good.

This summer shall be interesting. I’m not saying goodbye to my closest friends yet. Next Wednesday is the band picnic. And then friday is graduation. And then after that, we can all enjoy our summer. What will happen, I don’t know, but I look forward to it.
